Did you know these facts about malnutrition in Sri Lanka?

The Director General of Health Services says that the World Health Organization has identified malnutrition as a public health problem and the activities related to improving the nutritional status of children are implemented by the Maternal and Child Health Program of the Ministry of Health.

Recommendations of the Ministry of Health to prevent nutritional status:
Measure children's weight, length, height systematically
Nutritional counseling
Focus on vitamin A and micronutrient deficiency diseases
Vitamin A supplements to prevent immunity
Provide iron and micronutrient supplements
Due to today's busy lifestyle, people are moving away from traditional foods to fast, snack foods. Child malnutrition is increasing day by day in this high sugar, low nutritional food pattern. Although Sri Lanka has taken many measures to reduce child malnutrition, it is questionable how effective they are, the representatives of the World Bank pointed out.
